Perfetti van Melle is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum. They create imaginative products and brands that are enjoyed in over 150 countries.
Perfetti van Melle is migrating all their legacy (SAP)systems into one global SAP S/4HANA environment. In the challenging timelines set by the project the business was struggling with data cleansing and preparation for this migration. In my role as Data Migration Consultant for Supply Chain Benelux I supported the supply chain organization in their journey before, during and after the migration.
Royal IHC is rolling out a new ERP system, moving from ISAH7 to IFS. In the same project a major update on the product life cycle management tool Siemens TeamCenter is implemented, including an interface from TeamCenter to IFS, this makes the way of working for the Material Master Data Team very different from the past.
With my Material Master Data experience in various systems and a engineering background I supported the MDM team in defining their new Way of Working.
Day2Day operations
- Setup and maintain material master data in TeamCenter and IFS
- Create reports on created materials and missing data in TeamCenter
Improvement
- Prepare and validate data migration from ISAH7 to IFS and Siemens TeamCenter
- Establish & Document Way of Working within the company guidelines after Go-Live with new MDM & ERP software
- Develop MDM Request Registration and Tracking tool
For the Syngenta Flowers Turkey production plant a new way-of-working is about to be introduced. This new way-of-working requires new material master data and a major update on the already existing material master data.
In this project I was responsible for the Material Master Data design and implementation.
- Design new MDM workflow based on new business requirements, system functionality and global design rules
- Implement new MDM strategy
- Monitor (and take action on) precondition (open orders e.g.) for a successful MDM Transition
- Design new MDM elements like BOM & Recipes
- Trigger and monitor material creation by the offshored Master Data Team

The translation from business requirements to workable request for the third-party service provider is crucial for successful Master Data Management. In the role of MDM Originator I have done various projects to improve the Data Quality and optimize the way of working with the third-party service provider.
