Continuous Improvement

A continuous improvement process, is an ongoing effort to improve products, services, or processes. These efforts can seek “incremental” improvement over time or “breakthrough” improvement all at once.

My focus is mainly on the incremental improvement, often there is a lot room for improvement without starting a big project, this can both be done from a Business as Usual perspective as well from a ‘gap-closing’  activity at the end phase of a bigger project.

 

Master Data Request Automation

Within Syngenta Master Data Management is complex, many tasks are outsourced. The translation from business requirements to workable request for the third-party service provider is crucial for successful Master Data Management.
The process of creating Master Data request involves a lot of repetitive actions and is based on a given set of  possible choices. To simplify the request processing I was assigned the task to improve the used templates with data checks and request validation.

The more automation I could put in within the given timeframe and restrictions the better.  This was a big challenge because from the beginning I was convinced it was possible to automate the process from start to end. Biggest limiting factor was the wish for the new tool to be fully maintainable by the MDM Team, this resulted in a decision on using Excel without VBA and any formula more complex than a VLOOKUP.

The final result was a stable and user maintainable tool built in Excel providing accurate suggestions on what to request and how to fill a request template.

Interim SAP MDM Originator

Interim Client Engagement Manager MDM

Within Syngenta Master Data Management is complex, many tasks are outsourced. Managing service delivery both on operational as on tactical level is crucial for successful master data management when third-party service providers are involved. In my role as Client Engagement Manager I was responsible for aligning business needs with the capabilities of the service provider by setting up meting structures, setting priorities and managing escalations.

Service Delivery

  • Representing  the service organization as the one face to the client regarding MDM services
  • Manages expectations and acts as interface between the service delivery team and the clients in the business
  • Manages regional escalations of service issues
  • Track and escalate process impact due to organizational changes
  • New Service Introductions; Guide and align Business, Service organization and third-party to handover services to 3th party without any business interruptions

MDM Key User Network

  • Setting up and hosting  a monthly meeting with Key-Users, BPA, BPC and third-party service providers on MDM related topics

Transfer Price Year End Upload Project

At the end of the year new (inter-company) transfer-prices are established and need to be loaded into SAP. This process is a joined effort of the Transfer Price Team and MDM operations and will be managed by the Client Engagement Manager

  • Indicate and escalate potential issues
  • Communicate status updates with business stakeholders
  • Be the first point of contact for the business
  • Indicate and document possible improvements and initiate follow-up

Master Data Retrofit Turkey

For the Syngenta Flowers Turkey production plant a new way-of-working is about to be introduced. This new way-of-working requires new material master data and a major update on the already existing material master data.
In this project I was responsible for the Material Master Data design and implementation.

  • Design new MDM workflow based on new business requirements, system functionality and global design rules
  • Implement new MDM strategy
    • Monitor (and take action on) precondition (open orders e.g.) for a successful MDM Transition
    • Design new MDM elements like BOM & Recipes
    • Trigger and monitor material creation by the offshored Master Data Team

Interim Procurement Assistant

The story of FrieslandCampina and their relationship with milk began in 1871. This was the year farmers decided to join forces in local cooperative dairy factories. By doing so, they could strengthen their market position and ensure sales of their milk. Today, FrieslandCampina is one of the world’s largest dairy companies. Every day, they provide millions of consumers all over the world with valuable nutrition from milk. Not only in the form of milk itself, but with all kinds of dairy products we make from milk.
For the Indirect Procurement (packaging materials) there was a need for updating the contracts with their suppliers to be in line with the FrieslandCampina guidelines. As Procurement Assistant I was assigned the task copying existing contracts into the new template and identify the need for re-negotiation with the suppliers.

Within the IT Department the Vendor Relation and Services team is responsible for all vendor contact. In my role as IT Analyst I’ve worked with IT Managers and Purchasers on setting up budgets and monitoring external services.
